Welcome to Katie O'Brien!

Katie O'Brien will join Ryan O’Neill as a Team Teacher in our 5th-6th grade classroom, where she will focus primarily on language arts and student support. Katie is a TNCA parent of a 3rd grader and brand new Kindergartener, and she lives with her family at Asheville School, where her husband Jacob teaches. She and Jacob are dorm parents at Asheville School, and Katie filled her free time there last year tutoring students in World Studies and AP Language! Katie has been a presence on the TNCA campus for the last couple of years, either participating in our Parent-Teacher Organization, leading middle-school knitting workshops, or tutoring middle-school language arts. Katie was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL, and only recently moved to Asheville. Katie has a B.A. in Secondary English Education from Georgia Southern University, and prior to joining TNCA, she taught middle school language arts for 9 years in Jacksonville, FL.  In her down time, Katie enjoys baking, knitting, crafting, exploring new places with her family, and reading historical fiction.  We are so thrilled that she will be joining us full time this year!
